Every October, Trico celebrates National Cooperative Month. Why? Because it’s a time to reflect on what makes co-ops special. Cooperatives put people before profits, serve the community and give Members the power to make local decisions.
At Trico we are Powered with Purpose. There are seven principles that guide everything we do and remind us why the cooperative model is worth preserving.
The Seven Cooperative Principles:
1. Open and Voluntary Membership. We call you a Member for a reason.
2. Democratic Member Control. Trico is democratically controlled, with each Member having one vote. Our Board of Directors are Trico Members who have been elected to govern and direct the affairs of the Cooperative.
3. Members’ Economic Participation. Our Members share in the ownership, construction, maintenance and prosperity of the co-op. When you establish service with us, you become eligible for Membership Equity.
4. Autonomy and Independence. We answer to you, not far away investors.
5. Education, Training and Information. We prioritize education, training and sharing information about the issues that affect our co-op.
6. Cooperation Among Cooperatives. Together we’re stronger. We work with other cooperatives at the local, state and national levels to share knowledge, improve services and strengthen the communities we serve.
7. Concern for Community. This is our home, too, and Trico succeeds when our communities do. That’s why we support the community through college scholarships, community sponsorships and charitable donations.
Thank you for being a valued Trico Member.
