For extended outages:

First Steps

As soon as an outage occurs, Trico is alerted through our Advanced Metering System. However, here are additional steps you can take in case of an outage.

  1. Check to see if your neighbors have lost power.
  2. If your neighbors have power, you may need to check your electrical panel to rule out problems inside your home.
  3. Report an outage 24/7 online, directly from the Smarthub app, or SmartHub users can text OUT to 855-937-1858.
  4. Sign up to receive email or text alerts when your power is out and when it’s restored. Once enrolled, you can text STATUS to 855-937-1858 to receive updates.

If you are currently in a medical emergency please call 911.

Consider getting battery backup for your medical equipment, similar to what you would connect to your computer.

Talk with your medical provider about an outage plan for medical devices powered by electricity/refrigerated medicines. Inform Trico if you have life sustaining equipment and submit this form or contact [email protected].

Know the location of flashlights and a radio, and be sure to have extra batteries. Have a supply of water in the house – FEMA recommends a three-day supply.

Have extra batteries and a car charger for your mobile devices. Keep phone use to a minimum and only communicate for safety purposes. Conserve battery by reducing screen brightness, placing your phone in airplane mode, and closing unused apps.

Have enough nonperishable food. Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. The fridge will keep food cold for about 4 hours, and a full freezer will keep for about 48 hours. Throw out food if the temperature is 40 degrees or higher.

Keep your car gas or electric tank half full. Gas and electric charging stations rely on electricity to power their pumps.

Switch off all unnecessary lights and appliances to prevent overloaded circuits when power is restored.
