SaddleBrooke Substation Transformer & Voltage Regulator Replacement
Trico is replacing an existing transformer at the SaddleBrooke Substation with a new, larger-capacity transformer, along with a corresponding upgrade to its voltage regulator equipment.
The SaddleBrooke Substation currently has two transformers. If the larger of the two goes out of service for any reason, the smaller transformer cannot carry the full electric load for the area on its own. Demand from the SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch communities has grown to nearly the substation’s full capacity, and this creates risk to reliable service.
This upgrade removes a single point of failure at the substation, provides reliable backup capacity if one transformer needs maintenance or has an unplanned outage, and allows the nearby Chirreon Solar and Battery Storage facility to deliver its full output, supporting more local renewable energy.
