As we close out our 80th year, I would like to take a moment to thank our Members for another successful year, look back at all that we accomplished in 2025, and preview exciting projects we look forward to in 2026.
As Trico has grown over the last 80 years, we have focused on our core values of service, innovation, dependability, and integrity. By living these values every day, we ensure we meet our mission and provide solutions that improve our Members’ lives.
This year we introduced new energy solutions programs aimed at helping our Members save money, such as our Thermostat Energy Management Program (TEMP). We continued investing in our system with the Adonis Substation, various line upgrade projects, and starting work to rebuild Trico’s original substation in Marana.
We used innovative technologies to help identify opportunities to improve our grid. For example, using drones to patrol remote lines and software to assess fire risk on our system.
We have continued to enhance our grid, making it smarter and more resilient, adding automated reclosers and sensor technology, while upgrading the software and systems we use to manage the grid.
The Trico team also spent 2025 designing a SmartGrid Fiber Backbone that will provide fast, reliable communication between Trico’s substations and line devices. Better communication between Trico’s facilities will reduce outage times and the number of outages that occur, and a smarter grid will allow Trico to better manage electric loads. Construction on this project will start before the end of 2025.
We are always looking to improve and that doesn’t just include technology. To keep Members informed of what’s happening at the cooperative, we held meetings in each district and participated in community events. We also launched a Member Ambassador Program to give Members a unique opportunity to learn about Trico’s history, operations, and strategic direction.
We will continue to focus on providing cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions to our Members in 2026. I encourage you to keep reading the Livewire in the new year for updates on new opportunities and projects.
Speaking of new opportunities, I want to say thank you to the Members who have already pre-subscribed to Trico’s Member Driven Trico Fiber Internet Program. If enough Members pre-subscribe, we will start offering fast, affordable, and reliable fiber internet to Members in 2026. I encourage you to pre-subscribe and help us build Trico Fiber, together.
